Investigation for Health Screening

As we all know, prevention is better than cure. Investigations for health screening allow us to detect illnesses at the early stage and earlier intervention circumvents progression of disease and minimises the damage that conditions such as Diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, cancer and osteoporosis can wrought to the unsuspecting patient. Early intervention not only saves lives and improve morbidity and mortality, it also minimises an expensive bill for treatment.

Who should go for health screening?

Patients with:

  • Family history of cancers, coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia
  • High risks group: multiple sexual partners, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking
  • Unexplained weight loss, loss of appetite, alopecia, PR bleeding, haematuria, swollen lymph nodes, breast lumps
  • Most healthy adults above 35 years of age
Frequency of Health Screening:

- No fixed rule on freuency but in general, once a year
